The Surgeon Scalpel SA RH 308 is a precision bolt-action rifle built on the proven 591 Short Action platform and chambered in .308 Winchester Magnum. This rifle combines accuracy-focused engineering with practical features for hunters and precision shooters who demand reliability and consistency in the field or at the range. The integrated recoil lug design strengthens the free-floated system and extends the barrel tenon for maximum structural integrity—a hallmark of Surgeon Rifles' approach to repeatable accuracy.

The 20-inch Heavy Palma I MTU barrel (one of the heaviest profiles available) is twisted at 1:10 RH and threaded with a muzzle cap, giving you the option to add a brake or suppressor when your application calls for it. The rifle ships with a Magpul Pro folding buttstock in black and a 20-round Magpul PMAG magazine, so you're ready to shoot out of the box. At 11.5 pounds and 39.5 inches overall, it strikes a balance between portability and the mass needed to manage recoil and improve inherent accuracy.

A Trigger Tech trigger provides the crisp, predictable break essential for precision work, while the integrated MIL-STD 1913 rail—built into the action with a 20 MOA cant—simplifies scope mounting without requiring a separate base. Whether you're training for distance or hunting medium to large game, the Scalpel SA delivers the accuracy foundation that experienced shooters expect from a Surgeon platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

What scope mount do I need for this rifle?

The Scalpel SA has a built-in MIL-STD 1913 rail integrated directly into the action, so you can mount any Picatinny-compatible scope ring or mount directly to the rifle. No separate base is required. The rail includes a 20 MOA cant for longer-range applications.

Can I add a suppressor or muzzle brake?

Yes. The muzzle is threaded and ships with a cap. You can install a suppressor, muzzle brake, or other threaded accessory as needed for your use.

What magazine comes with the rifle?

The rifle includes one 20-round Magpul PMAG magazine chambered for .308 Winchester Magnum.

What's the weight and how does it handle in the field?

At 11.5 pounds and 39.5 inches overall with a folding stock, the rifle is substantial enough to manage recoil and deliver precision but remains portable for hunting or field use. The folding Magpul Pro stock allows you to reduce its profile when needed.
