The Sig Sauer MCX Spear 7.62x51mm rifle brings modern, proven military engineering to the civilian market. Built on the platform selected for the U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon program, this 16-inch rifle delivers the kind of reliability and flexibility serious shooters demand—whether you're hunting at distance, running drills at the range, or building a capable duty gun. The Coyote Tan anodized finish pairs tactical purpose with a professional look that fits any setup.

What sets the MCX Spear apart is its thoughtful controls and modularity. The ambidextrous bolt catch and release mean lefties and righties work the gun equally fast. Charging handle placement—both rear and side—gives you options depending on your optic or preferred shooting method. The 6-position collapsing stock lets you dial in length of pull for different gear or shooting positions, while the 2-position adjustable gas valve lets you tune the action for reliable cycling across ammunition variations. Everything points to a rifle built by people who understand how professional shooters actually operate.

The 16-inch chrome moly steel barrel is twist-rate optimized at 1:10 and wears a FNC finish for corrosion resistance. A 20-round magazine keeps you in the fight, and the rifle ships optic-ready—no irons, just a flat-top platform waiting for your glass. At 9.2 pounds with magazine, it's manageable for extended shooting sessions. The curved match trigger breaks cleanly and predictably. Whether you're zeroing a new build or upgrading from older piston-driven systems, the MCX Spear's feature set reflects years of military feedback.

This is a rifle for shooters who value function over marketing noise—people who want direct-impingement reliability in a modern package.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the effective range of the MCX Spear 7.62x51mm rifle?

The 7.62x51mm cartridge and 1:10 twist barrel are capable of accurate fire well beyond 500 yards in the right conditions. However, effective range depends heavily on your optic, ammunition choice, and shooting skill. The rifle itself is a precision platform; your results will be shaped by how you set it up and practice.

Can I adjust the gas system if my ammo runs too hard or soft?

Yes. The 2-position adjustable gas valve lets you tune the action for reliable cycling across different ammunition loads. This is a practical feature if you're running suppressed, shooting match rounds, or using varying ammunition from different manufacturers.

Is the stock collapsible, and does it fold?

The 6-position collapsible stock allows you to adjust length of pull, and it also folds. This gives you flexibility for different gear setup and storage. Overall length ranges from 28 inches (collapsed) to 38.3 inches (extended).

What's included, and what do I need to buy separately?

The rifle ships with a 20-round magazine and SLX/SLH quick-detach flash hider. It's optic-ready with a flat-top rail and no iron sights, so you'll need to source an optic, mount, and ammunition separately.
