The Savage Impulse Mountain Hunter is a straight-pull bolt action rifle built for hunters who demand speed, accuracy, and minimal weight on long mountain pursuits. Chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum and topped with a 24-inch Proof Research carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel, this rifle combines proven Savage engineering with modern materials that make sense above timberline. The gray synthetic stock keeps things lightweight and weather-resistant, while the straight-pull action lets you work the bolt fast and stay locked on target during the decisive moment—no sweeping your shooting hand away from the grip between shots.

What sets the Impulse apart is its commitment to shooter control and precision. The user-adjustable AccuTrigger (tunable from 1.5 to 4 lbs) gives you the break you want, and the ambidextrous, removable multi-positional bolt handle adapts to your hand and your hunting style. AccuFit technology—adjustable length-of-pull and comb height—means the stock fits your body, not the other way around. The AccuStock system pairs three-dimensional aluminum bedding with that rugged synthetic exterior for consistent accuracy shot after shot. The aluminum receiver wears an integral 20 MOA rail for optics mounting and long-range capability.

The threaded muzzle (5/8-24) accepts a muzzle brake standard, helping manage recoil on follow-ups. Sling swivel studs and a 2-position tang safety round out the hunting-ready package. If you're glassing ridges, glassing valleys, and covering ground where every ounce counts, the Impulse Mountain Hunter is engineered to keep pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the straight-pull action and why does it matter for hunting?

The straight-pull bolt action cycles with a simple forward-and-back motion rather than a traditional lift-and-rotate. You don't have to move your hand away from the grip or your cheek from the stock between shots, which keeps you sighted on the target and speeds up follow-ups in high-pressure hunting scenarios. It's a significant advantage when you need to verify a hit or take a second shot quickly.

Is the stock adjustable, and will it fit different body sizes?

Yes. The AccuFit system lets you adjust both the length-of-pull and comb height, so hunters with different arm lengths and face shapes can dial in a custom fit. That means less neck strain, better cheek weld, and more consistent shooting.

What comes with the rifle, and what do I need to mount a scope?

The Impulse Mountain Hunter includes the muzzle brake. The aluminum receiver has an integral 1-piece 20 MOA rail, so you can mount a scope directly without additional rail components. You'll need a set of scope rings compatible with your chosen optic.

Can a left-handed shooter use this rifle?

The bolt handle is ambidextrous and removable, and the multi-positional design allows it to be configured for left or right hand operation. The tang safety is also positioned to work for both.
