The Savage 1911 Government Stainless Steel is a no-nonsense 9mm pistol built on the proven 1911 platform. With a 5-inch barrel and 10-round capacity, this single-action semi-auto delivers the reliable, straightforward ergonomics that make the 1911 design a go-to for shooters who want familiarity and dependability. Stainless steel construction handles hard use and corrosion resistance, whether you're running drills at the range, practicing defensive technique, or keeping it close for home defense.
The 1911 frame geometry fits naturally in hand for most shooters, and the single-stack magazine makes the gun trim enough to carry or store without bulk. A 5-inch barrel strikes a balance between sight radius for accuracy and overall manageability. The 10-round magazine capacity makes this a practical choice for recreational shooting and training without sacrificing the classic 1911 controls and trigger feel that shooters expect.
This is a straightforward, honest gun—no frills, solid steel, and built to run. If you're looking for a 9mm 1911 that won't complicate your life, the Savage Government model deserves a close look.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 1911 Government pistol used for?
The 1911 platform is popular for target shooting, competitive sport shooting, training, and personal defense. The Government model with a 5-inch barrel is a traditional, full-size frame favored by shooters who want accuracy and comfortable handling at the range or in defensive scenarios.
Is the Savage 1911 Government good for concealed carry?
A full-size 1911 with a 5-inch barrel is more suited to open carry or duty-belt carry than deep concealment. Its size and weight make it manageable for holstered carry, but if compact concealment is the priority, compact or officer-sized models are a better fit.
Why choose 9mm in a 1911?
9mm ammunition is readily available, affordable, and produces less recoil than larger calibers, making it ideal for training volume and follow-up shot accuracy. The Savage 1911 in 9mm gives you the classic 1911 handling and controls with practical ammunition economics.
