The Rock Island VR60 Tactical 12ga shotgun is a semi-automatic, AR-style platform built for hunters and sport shooters who want modern ergonomics and modularity in a shotgun. Unlike traditional pump or break-action shotguns, the VR60 uses a gas-operated system that cycles like an AR rifle—meaning faster follow-up shots, less recoil management, and the familiar controls rifle shooters already know. The 20-inch barrel keeps it nimble in the field or at the range, while the 5+1 capacity gives you six shells on demand. Whether you're working upland birds, running a clay course, or setting up for home defense, this gun rewards you with accuracy and speed.
The controls are pure AR DNA: the safety sits on the left side of the receiver above the pistol grip, and the magazine release mimics M16 placement—muscle memory translates directly from your rifle. The top of the receiver is fitted with a carry handle and integral Picatinny rail, so mounting optics, red dots, or backup sights is straightforward. The removable A-2 style carry handle converts the gun to a flat-top in seconds if you prefer an unobstructed sight plane. Underneath, a gas piston system and return spring are housed around a support tube beneath the barrel, all concealed by an enlarged polymer handguard that keeps your hand comfortable and away from heat.
Barrels swap easily between the upper and lower receiver, letting you experiment with configurations or swap to a different length down the road. The gun handles both 2¾-inch and 3-inch Magnum loads, so your ammo options are broad. It ships with a set of interchangeable chokes—Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder—letting you dial in your pattern for the shot. The aluminum receiver and contoured barrel keep weight reasonable, and the polymer furniture is built to take hard use. This is a shotgun that feels like it was designed by people who actually use AR platforms, not a compromise shoehorned into a traditional action.
