The Rock Island Combo Field/Security 12ga pump action shotgun delivers genuine versatility in a single, rugged platform. This two-barrel setup pairs an 18.5" barrel for home defense and tactical use with an additional 28" barrel built for hunting and sport shooting—swap barrels to match your mission without buying a second gun. Built on Rock Island Armory's proven pump action design, it feeds 5+1 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition and handles everything from bird hunting to property patrol with reliable semiautomatic-style controls and straightforward maintenance.

Rock Island shotguns have earned a reputation for honest, no-frills performance at working-gun prices. The 12ga format hits hard enough for any North American game, and the dual-barrel combo means you're not compromising on barrel length for your primary use case. Whether you're outfitting a truck, a blind, or a home security position, the flexibility to switch barrels in minutes keeps this gun relevant across seasons and scenarios.

The fiber optic front sight aids target acquisition in variable light, and the fixed grip keeps your hand position consistent across both configurations. At 7.61 lbs, it handles like a traditional pump shotgun—quick to mount, responsive to aim, and manageable for extended shooting sessions. Black shiny finish resists surface rust and shows scratches less than anodized competitors, making it practical for field use where cosmetics matter less than function.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the two barrels, and when would I use each one?

The 18.5" barrel excels in tight spaces and tactical scenarios, making it ideal for home defense or security patrols. The 28" barrel gives you superior sight radius and pattern control for hunting upland game, waterfowl, or clay sports. Swap them based on your day's mission.

How difficult is it to switch barrels?

Rock Island pump shotguns use a straightforward barrel change system typical of field-swappable designs. The exact procedure is covered in your owner's manual; plan on a few minutes once you're familiar with the process.

Will this shotgun cycle reliably with standard 12-gauge ammunition?

Yes. The 5+1 capacity and pump action are designed to feed standard 12-gauge rounds. Always consult the manual for ammunition recommendations and operating procedures.

What ammunition capacity does each barrel configuration have?

The magazine holds 5 rounds plus one in the chamber (5+1 total) regardless of which barrel is attached. Capacity doesn't change when you swap.
