The Remington 700 Varmint SF in 6.5 Creedmoor is a precision bolt-action rifle built for shooters who demand tight groups and rock-solid reliability. The 700 action has been the standard for accuracy and consistency for decades, and this stainless fluted variant brings together the features that matter for long-range and varmint work: a heavy 26-inch barrel with 5R rifling, a threaded muzzle for suppressor or brake installation, and a synthetic stock designed to stay put in harsh conditions.

The barrel's fluted design isn't just for show—it reduces weight while keeping rigidity intact, and the concave crown protects the rifling lands for bullet flight that stays true. The 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge delivers flat trajectories and excellent energy retention out to practical hunting and competition ranges, making this rifle equally at home punching paper or taking game. Stainless steel construction means you won't babysit this gun between seasons; it shrugs off moisture and corrosion when life gets wet or dusty.

The stock features over-molded grip panels for a secure hold and a vented beavertail fore-end that lets air circulate around the barrel to manage heat during strings of fire. Dual front swivel studs give you flexibility to mount a sling and bipod without choosing one or the other. The SuperCell recoil pad manages felt recoil, and the hinged floor-plate makes unloading and cleaning straightforward. The receiver is machined from solid steel bar stock with a three-rings-of-steel design—the breech wraps the barrel and receiver around the cartridge case head for the kind of strength that earns trust across thousands of rounds.

If you're setting up a precision rifle for 6.5 Creedmoor and want a factory-built foundation that won't nickel-and-dime you with accuracy issues, the 700 Varmint SF delivers the goods without the custom-shop price tag.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a suppressor or muzzle brake on this rifle?

Yes. The 26-inch barrel is threaded 5/8 x 24, which is standard for 6.5 Creedmoor rifles. You can attach a suppressor, muzzle brake, flash hider, or other threaded accessory without modification.

What's the difference between the fluted barrel and a standard heavy barrel?

The longitudinal flutes reduce barrel weight while maintaining the rigidity and thermal mass needed for accuracy. The flutes also increase the surface area in contact with air, which helps the barrel cool faster during extended shooting sessions—useful when you're testing loads or running multiple shot strings.

Is this rifle suitable for long-range hunting and competition?

The 6.5 Creedmoor is known for excellent ballistics at extended range, and the heavy barrel, precise 5R rifling, and target crown are built for tight groups. The dual front swivel studs let you mount a bipod for stable shooting off bags or a sling for field portability, making it adaptable to both hunting and range work.

Does the stock come with a sling and bipod?

The rifle includes the dual front swivel studs for mounting, but slings and bipods are sold separately. The vented beavertail fore-end design is optimized to work well with standard bipod clamps.
