The Rearden DPB muzzle brake is a precision-engineered accessory designed for shooters running Plan B suppressor mounts on their rifle builds. Featuring a 5/8-24 thread pitch and square shoulder design, this 0.4-inch brake is built from 17-4 PH H900 stainless steel—a material choice that speaks to durability under sustained firing. The black nitride finish (67 HRC surface hardness) resists corrosion and contributes to a tighter seal when paired with a suppressor, making it well-suited for hunters, long-range shooters, and serious practitioners who demand consistency from their muzzle devices.
This is an updated iteration of Rearden's DPB line with enlarged wrench flats on the rear, a practical feature that makes installation and maintenance easier when you need leverage. The brake is compatible with both Atlas and Atlas XL adapter platforms, and the included shims give you tuning flexibility during setup. Installation requires attention to detail: the muzzle device should be torqued to approximately 30 foot-pounds and secured with Rockset to lock it permanently to the barrel. Always use an alignment rod to confirm the entire system—brake, adapter, and suppressor—is concentrically aligned before final torque.
Once everything is locked in place, the suppressor threads onto clean tapers and should be torqued to 10 foot-pounds. The tight seal enabled by the nitride finish is one of the DPB's strengths, but it's also a reminder that proper installation protocol is non-negotiable.
