The Patriot Ordnance Factory Phoenix 9mm rifle is a purpose-built direct blowback carbine that brings rifle ergonomics and modularity to 9mm shooting. With its 16-inch barrel, monolithic upper receiver, and ambidextrous controls, the Phoenix is equally at home on the range, in defensive training, or serving as a versatile platform for shooters who want the softer recoil and lower cost of 9mm with AR-platform familiarity.

POF engineered this rifle around reliability and accessibility. The fully monolithic upper receiver pairs with a billet lower to deliver a rigid, durable platform, while ambidextrous controls—including a forward charging handle—make it natural for both right- and left-handed shooters. The M-LOK handguard gives you clean, purposeful mounting options for lights, lasers, or other gear without picatinny rail clutter. A dual-chamber muzzle brake manages recoil and blast, keeping the sight picture stable shot to shot.

As a direct blowback gun, the Phoenix is refreshingly simple: no piston, no gas tube, just straightforward function. That simplicity means easier cleaning and fewer parts to wear. The rifle ships with access to POF's reliable 35-round 9mm magazines, letting you run longer strings without reloading. Standard AR-pattern controls and a mil-spec trigger make it intuitive if you're already familiar with the platform.

At 5.75 pounds and 36 inches overall, the Phoenix balances handling and shootability without feeling underpowered. The 1:10 rifling twist handles standard 9mm loadings across the board. Whether you're building a fun range gun, setting up a training platform, or looking for a second-strike defensive carbine, the Phoenix delivers the POF quality standard without overcomplication.

Frequently Asked Questions

What magazines work with the Patriot Ordnance Factory Phoenix 9mm rifle?

The Phoenix is designed around POF-USA's 35-round 9mm magazines, which give you extended capacity for range sessions or training drills. Standard AR-pattern 9mm magazines may also be compatible, but POF's own magazines are the tested, factory-recommended choice.

Is the Phoenix ambidextrous for left-handed shooters?

Yes. The rifle features a fully ambidextrous design, including the forward charging handle and all fire controls, making it equally natural for right- and left-handed operators.

What's the advantage of direct blowback in a 9mm rifle?

Direct blowback simplifies the design—no gas tube or piston system to maintain—and keeps the rifle clean and easy to service. With 9mm's moderate recoil, the design is plenty reliable while eliminating a potential maintenance headache. The dual-chamber muzzle brake helps manage whatever impulse there is.

Can I mount optics on the Phoenix?

Yes. The billet lower receiver features a 1913 picatinny rail at the rear for standard AR-pattern scope mounts. The M-LOK handguard also allows modular mounting of lights, lasers, or other tactical accessories.
