The Nosler 48 Mountain Carbon .28 Nosler bolt-action rifle is built for hunters who refuse to compromise between weight, accuracy, and reliability. At 6 pounds, this ultra-lightweight hunting rifle won't slow you down on long days in the mountains, yet it delivers the precision you need when the moment matters. Nosler engineered this rifle from the ground up to answer a real problem: most ultra-light rifles force you to sacrifice either accuracy or your budget. The M48 Mountain Carbon does neither.
The foundation is Nosler's proven M48 action, paired with a 24-inch match-grade, cut-rifled carbon-wrapped barrel that's capable of sub-MOA accuracy when loaded with Nosler ammunition. That barreled action is then precision glass-bedded and aluminum pillar-bedded into a carbon fiber Mountain Hunter stock finished in Granite Green—a color that works as well in the field as it looks. All steel surfaces wear a Tungsten Grey Cerakote finish for serious weather resistance, and the 5/8x24 threaded muzzle gives you room to run a suppressor or brake if you choose. The rifle balances like an extension of your arm, which matters when you're glassing ridges or making a stalk through tight country.
Standard features include a Timney trigger with 2-position safety, a hinged floorplate for easy magazine access, and 3-round magazine capacity. The .28 Nosler chambering delivers serious velocity and a flat trajectory—good medicine for the alpine hunts and longer-range shooting this rifle was designed for. A 13.5-inch length of pull fits most hunters out of the box, and the 1-in-9 twist rate is optimized for modern .28 Nosler projectiles.
This isn't a budget rifle dressed up in carbon fiber. It's the result of Nosler drawing on its own ballistics engineering expertise, partnering with specialists in carbon fiber stocks and carbon-wrapped barrel technology, and refusing to build something that doesn't make sense. If you hunt the high country or anywhere weight and dependability matter, the M48 Mountain Carbon is worth your serious attention.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this rifle accurate enough for long-range hunting?
Yes. The M48 Mountain Carbon is guaranteed for sub-MOA accuracy when loaded with Nosler ammunition. The match-grade, cut-rifled carbon-wrapped barrel and precision bedding are built specifically to deliver that level of precision. Pair that with the .28 Nosler's velocity and flat trajectory, and you have a capable long-range hunting platform.
Can I use a suppressor on this rifle?
Yes. The barrel is threaded 5/8x24, which is a common thread pitch for suppressors and muzzle devices. You can add a suppressor, muzzle brake, or other 5/8x24 accessory as needed.
What ammunition does Nosler recommend for accuracy?
Nosler specifies that the rifle's sub-MOA accuracy guarantee applies when using Nosler ammunition in .28 Nosler. Check with Nosler or your dealer for current .28 Nosler load recommendations.
Is this rifle suitable for mountain and backcountry hunting?
That's exactly what it's designed for. At 6 pounds with excellent balance and a 45-inch overall length, the M48 Mountain Carbon is built to handle long days in steep, remote terrain without wearing you out. The Tungsten Grey Cerakote finish and quality construction are built to withstand harsh weather and rough conditions.
