The Mossberg Patriot Synthetic 7mm-08 rifle is a no-nonsense bolt-action built for hunters who want a reliable, affordable deer rifle without the frills. Model 27851 pairs a compact, handy 22-inch barrel with a tough synthetic stock—perfect for field hunting, truck racks, and rough conditions where you don't want to babysit a wood finish. At 6.5 pounds, it's light enough to carry all day but substantial enough to shoot straight, and the 7mm-08 cartridge delivers plenty of stopping power for whitetail and mid-size game without punishing your shoulder.
This is a workhorse for hunters on a budget. The synthetic stock won't warp or crack if you leave it in the truck bed or drag it through thick brush, and the matte blue finish handles weather better than bare steel. The 5+1 capacity (five in the magazine, one in the chamber) gives you room to work if your first shot doesn't seal the deal, and the 1:9.5 twist stabilizes bullets across a wide range of loadings. Whether you're hunting family land, setting up for rifle season, or looking for a dependable backup gun, the Patriot delivers accuracy and reliability at a price that doesn't demand a second mortgage.
Mossberg has been making bolt rifles for generations, and the Patriot line continues that tradition: solid, unfussy, and ready to hunt. This isn't a custom rifle or a competition gun—it's the kind of rifle that does the job, year after year, without drama.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Mossberg Patriot 7mm-08 good for hunting deer?
Yes. The 7mm-08 is a proven deer cartridge—it's flat-shooting, accurate, and delivers enough energy for clean kills at typical hunting ranges. The Patriot's 1:9.5 twist handles factory and handloaded ammunition across a wide velocity range, so you can choose the load that works best for your hunting style.
What's the difference between 5+1 capacity and a standard 5-round magazine?
The 5+1 means the magazine holds 5 rounds and you can chamber one additional round in the barrel, giving you 6 total shots before reloading. In the field, that extra round in the chamber can matter if your first shot doesn't put the animal down.
Is the synthetic stock durable for rough hunting conditions?
Yes. Synthetic stocks resist moisture, temperature swings, and bumps better than wood. This Patriot won't warp in the rain, won't crack if you lean it against a truck bed, and won't be damaged by brush or weather—all things that matter when you're hunting hard terrain.
Will the 22-inch barrel fit in a truck rack or tight blind?
Yes. At 42.75 inches overall length, this Patriot is compact and maneuverable—easier to fit in vehicles and blinds than longer rifles, and the shorter barrel keeps muzzle blast and recoil reasonable in the field.
