The Mossberg Maverick 88 is a no-frills, hard-working 12 gauge pump action shotgun built for hunters and sport shooters who value reliability and simplicity over flash. With its 28-inch barrel, fixed Modified choke, and 3-inch chamber, this all-purpose scattergun handles everything from upland birds to waterfowl to clay targets without requiring you to spend more than necessary or fiddle with complicated systems. At 7 pounds, it's light enough for a day in the field yet substantial enough to manage recoil effectively. The bead front sight keeps things straightforward—just aim and shoot.
What makes the Maverick 88 tick is Mossberg's proven pump-action design: smooth, reliable, and easy to maintain. The synthetic black stock and foregrip are weather-resistant and built to take a beating, whether you're pushing through marsh grass or storing it in a truck. The 6-round magazine tube gives you plenty of firepower, and the 3-inch chamber lets you load everything from target loads to magnum rounds without swapping shotguns. This is the kind of gun that shows up, does the job, and doesn't demand a lot of attention in return.
The Maverick 88 has earned respect among hunters and clay shooters for good reason: it's affordable, dependable, and versatile. Whether you're new to shotguns and want something simple to learn on, or you're an experienced shooter looking for a straightforward backup or field gun, the Maverick 88 delivers without pretense.
