The Mossberg 510 Youth Mini is a 20-gauge pump shotgun built specifically for young hunters, shooters, and small-statured adults who need a gun that actually fits. Unlike scaled-down versions of adult shotguns, the 510 Mini is engineered from the ground up as a true compact platform—everything is proportioned smaller, from the receiver to the controls to the overall handling, making it genuinely comfortable and safe for smaller hands and frames. At just 5 pounds and 34.75 inches long, this is a shotgun designed to teach proper technique and build confidence without the fatigue and recoil struggle that comes from oversized guns.
The 18.5-inch vent-rib barrel features dual-bead sights for instinctive aiming, and the gun handles 2.75-inch shells with a 3-inch chamber and 4-round capacity. The real stand-out feature is the adjustable synthetic stock with spacer system: length of pull adjusts from 10.5 to 11.5 inches, so the gun genuinely grows with your kid rather than becoming obsolete after a season or two. That fit matters—it keeps the shotgun shouldered properly, improves accuracy, and reduces flinch-inducing recoil. The Accu-Set choke system gives you flexibility to match your load to the hunt or clay course.
This is a pump action, so it offers the reliability, simplicity, and hands-on learning curve that serious young shooters appreciate. Whether you're introducing a first-time hunter to upland birds, ducks, or target shooting, the 510 Mini delivers all the performance and durability Mossberg's known for in a package that doesn't overwhelm. The black synthetic furniture stands up to weather and hunting use without apology.

Frequently Asked Questions
What shell sizes and ammunition does the Mossberg 510 Mini accept?
The 510 Mini handles 2.75-inch shells and has a 3-inch chamber, so it also safely fires 3-inch ammo. It's a straightforward choice if you're stocking standard 20-gauge loads for upland, waterfowl, or target shooting.
Can the length of pull be adjusted as my child grows?
Yes. The adjustable synthetic stock includes a spacer system that lets you set length of pull anywhere from 10.5 to 11.5 inches. That means one shotgun can serve a young shooter for years without becoming too short as they grow, making it a genuine long-term investment in their shooting.
What's included with the shotgun?
The product information provided covers the gun itself and its components. For a complete picture of what ships in the box, contact Bosque Outdoors directly.
Is the Mossberg 510 Mini suitable for hunting, or just the range?
The 510 Mini is a fully functional 20-gauge shotgun, so it's absolutely capable for hunting upland game, waterfowl, and small game where a 20 gauge is legal. Its short, lightweight profile also makes it a natural choice for young hunters who need a gun that doesn't exhaust them after hours in the field.
