Can I use this on the right side of my rifle instead?

This is the left-side (LT) model, which positions the light at 11 o'clock. Magpul also makes a right-side (RT) version for 1 o'clock mounting. Choose based on which side of the gun you want the light and whether your support hand is on the left or right of the handguard.

Is this mount compatible with my handguard?

The mount fits any standard 1913 Picatinny rail. If your AR's handguard or rail system uses Picatinny slots, this mount will attach. It also integrates with Magpul XTM rail panels if you're using those as well.
