The Magnum Research Desert Eagle .50 AE pistol in case hardened finish is one of the most distinctive and powerful semi-automatic handguns ever built. This gas-operated rotating bolt pistol is chambered in .50 Action Express—a magnum-class cartridge that demands respect and delivers serious stopping power. The case hardened finish gives this big-bore platform a classic, hardened steel look that sets it apart from standard black oxide alternatives. Whether you're a collector, competitive shooter, or someone who appreciates extreme performance firearms, the Desert Eagle has earned its reputation as a purpose-built precision instrument.

Built on a full-size frame, this .50 AE Desert Eagle measures 10.75 inches overall with a 6-inch barrel and weighs a substantial 4 lbs 12 oz with magazine. The robust construction uses high-quality carbon steel throughout the barrel, frame, and slide. You'll find a full Weaver-style accessory rail running the length of the barrel—from the chamber exit back behind the front sight—giving you flexibility to mount optics, lights, or other gear. The combat-type fixed sights are already in place, though many shooters opt to add a scope or red dot thanks to that rail.

The single-action trigger breaks at approximately 4 pounds and provides crisp, predictable reset. Ambidextrous safeties ensure the gun works smoothly for both right and left-handed shooters. The polygonal rifling with right-hand twist (one turn in 19 inches, 6 lands and grooves) is engineered to maximize accuracy and velocity from that powerful .50 AE cartridge. Magazine capacity is 7 rounds, giving you serious firepower in a semi-automatic platform. This is not a casual range gun—it's a statement piece for those who want uncompromising performance and power.

The case hardened finish delivers both aesthetic appeal and functional hardening of the steel, making this Desert Eagle stand out in any collection or on any bench. If you're looking for a large-bore semi-automatic pistol with proven reliability and maximum presence, the Desert Eagle .50 AE is purpose-built for that mission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope or red dot on the Desert Eagle .50 AE?

Yes. The Desert Eagle features a full Weaver-style accessory rail running the length of the barrel from the chamber exit to behind the front sight. This rail accepts standard Weaver-pattern mounts for optics, lasers, lights, and other tactical accessories.

Is the Desert Eagle .50 AE ambidextrous?

The safeties are ambidextrous, making it accessible for both right and left-handed shooters. However, as a semi-automatic pistol, other controls follow traditional right-hand operation patterns.

What does the case hardened finish mean?

Case hardening is a steel treatment that hardens the outer surface of the metal while keeping the interior relatively softer. On this Desert Eagle, it provides both a distinctive appearance and functional hardening of the steel surfaces, distinguishing it from standard black oxide finishes.

What ammunition does the Desert Eagle .50 AE use?

This pistol is chambered in .50 Action Express (.50 AE), a powerful magnum-class cartridge. The magazine holds 7 rounds of .50 AE ammunition.
