The LSI Howa MiniAction .223 Rem heavy threaded barrel rifle is a compact, precision-focused platform built for shooters who want genuine utility in a lightweight package. Built on Legacy Sports' proven MiniAction receiver, this .223 chambering delivers the velocity and ballistics of a full-sized cartridge in a frame that handles like a dream for varmint work, target shooting, and hunting applications where recoil management and portability matter. The 20-inch heavy barrel is already threaded 1/2x28, so you can run a suppressor or muzzle brake right out of the box—no gunsmith trip required.

What makes this rifle work is the foundation beneath it. The one-piece bolt is forged and lightened with two locking lugs, the HTI synthetic stock is pillar-bedded for consistency, and everything is built to tight tolerances. At 6.4 pounds and 39.5 inches overall, it's genuinely handy. The 1-8 twist rate runs the full spectrum of modern .223 loads, and the detachable 10-round magazine keeps you fed. A three-position safety and sling swivel studs complete the package—this is a rifle that respects its own job description without unnecessary fuss.

The MiniAction platform appeals to shooters stepping up from .17 and .22 centerfire rifles but who don't need the bulk of a full-sized receiver, as well as hunters managing property or running varmint control who appreciate compact, accurate, low-recoil firepower. If you're drawn to precision rifles but need something that won't exhaust you over a long day afield, the LSI Howa MiniAction delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run a suppressor on this rifle?

Yes. The 20-inch barrel comes threaded 1/2x28, which is the standard thread pattern for .223 suppressors and muzzle devices. You won't need any gunsmithing to mount a can or brake.

What ammunition does the 1-8 twist rate handle?

The 1-8 twist is rated for the full range of .223 Remington loads, from lighter 40-55 grain varmint ammunition through heavier 75+ grain target and hunting rounds. It's a versatile twist for this caliber.

Is this rifle suitable for hunting?

Yes. The .223 Remington is effective for varmint control, predator hunting, and small-to-medium game hunting depending on local regulations. The compact, lightweight design makes it easy to carry over longer distances, and the heavy barrel supports accurate shot placement at distance.

What comes in the box?

The rifle ships with one 10-round detachable magazine, sling swivel studs, and the HTI synthetic stock with recoil pad. Additional 5 and 10-round magazines are available separately through the manufacturer.
