The KSA 722 Varmint is a dedicated .22LR rifle built for shooters who want serious accuracy without the fuss or recoil of centerfire options. Keystone Sporting Arms engineered this bolt-action around a heavy 20-inch barrel that cuts down muzzle velocity loss, keeps groups tight, and makes follow-up shots reliable—whether you're working prairie dogs, controlling small game, or spending a day on the range honing marksmanship without breaking the bank on ammunition.

The 1:16 twist rate is optimized for the .22LR's standard and subsonic loads, giving you genuine accuracy across the entire cartridge spectrum. A 7-round capacity strikes the balance between quick follow-ups and easy magazine changes. The walnut stock and blued finish deliver a classic, purposeful look that won't feel out of place in a truck or a precision case, and the materials are straightforward—no plastic frills—built to handle field use and keep shooting straight.

At 37 inches overall, the 722 Varmint handles like a true rifle, not a toy, and the heavy barrel absorbs heat and vibration to maintain zero across long strings of fire. This is a .22 for people who take shooting seriously but refuse to overcomplicate it. Quiet, accurate, and reliable, it excels as a trainer, a varmint gun, or simply a rifle you'll reach for whenever you want pure shooting without the noise and report.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the KSA 722 Varmint best used for?

This rifle excels at precision .22LR shooting across multiple roles: varmint control on small game, long-range rimfire practice, training new shooters on fundamentals, and general range use. The heavy barrel and bolt action reward good technique and deliver repeatable accuracy without recoil or noise pollution.

Will this rifle shoot both standard and subsonic .22LR ammo reliably?

Yes. The 1:16 twist rate is specifically designed to stabilize both standard-velocity and subsonic .22LR loads, so you can switch between them without concerns about accuracy or reliability.

How does the 7-round capacity compare to other .22 bolt-actions?

A 7-round detachable magazine keeps the magazine change simple and the rifle trim, while providing enough capacity for efficient shooting sessions and quick follow-ups without excessive reloading.

Is the KSA 722 Varmint suitable for someone new to rifle shooting?

Absolutely. The bolt action is straightforward and safe to operate, .22LR produces minimal recoil and noise, and the heavy barrel helps new shooters see the results of good form. It's an excellent training platform for learning marksmanship fundamentals.
