The Henry Big Boy Steel .45 Long Colt lever action rifle with 20" barrel is a modern take on a classic American firearm—rugged, reliable, and built for hunters and shooters who appreciate honest craftsmanship. The blued steel receiver and barrel give it traditional looks backed by hard-wearing durability, while the American walnut furniture adds warmth without fuss. This is a rifle that works whether you're hunting large game, running steel at the range, or simply enjoying the smooth, deliberate action that made lever guns legendary.

The .45 Colt chambering pairs serious stopping power with modest recoil, making it forgiving to shoot all day and effective on game. The 10-round capacity and slick lever cycle give you followup shots when you need them, and the side gate loading keeps things straightforward—no fumbling with tube magazines. At 7 pounds and 37.5 inches overall, it's balanced and maneuverable in thick country or from a bench. The fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight and brass bead front sight are proven, field-friendly aiming solutions, and the rifle is drilled and tapped for scope mounting if you prefer glass.

Henry built this one with real users in mind: a transfer bar safety keeps the rifle secure in the field, swivel studs let you mount a sling securely, and the black rubber recoil pad handles whatever you throw downrange. Whether you're drawn to the heritage of lever-action rifles or you want a rifle that's as at home hunting deer and hogs as it is at the range, the Henry Big Boy Steel delivers the goods without pretense.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount a scope on the Henry Big Boy Steel?

Yes. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, and Henry provides compatibility with the BB-RSM mount type for easy optic installation.

What makes the .45 Long Colt a good hunting round?

The .45 Long Colt delivers substantial power for large game without the recoil of magnum cartridges, making it manageable for accurate follow-up shots. Combined with the lever action's speed, it's a proven hunting tool for deer, hogs, and similar game.

What sights come standard on this rifle?

The Henry Big Boy Steel ships with a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with a diamond insert and a brass bead front sight. Both are field-proven, and the rear sight is adjustable for range and elevation.

Is the walnut stock and blued steel finish durable for field use?

Yes. American walnut is a traditional, hard wood that holds up to regular use, and the blued steel finish is time-tested. Both will age with character—minor wear adds to the rifle's story rather than detracting from it. For maximum protection, regular maintenance and occasional oil will keep the wood and metal in good shape.
