The Henry H010GAWP All-Weather .45-70 lever action rifle is built for hunters and shooters who demand a modern take on a classic cartridge. This .45-70 Government rifle strips away unnecessary weight while keeping the legendary stopping power that makes it legendary for large game—deer, bear, hogs, moose, and elk at practical hunting distances. At 7.10 lbs with an 18.43-inch barrel, it's nimble enough for brush country but accurate enough for 100-yard work. The industrial hard chrome satin receiver and hard chrome plated steel barrel are engineered to stand up to the weather and the recoil of full-power loads.

What sets this Henry apart is its modern accessory mounting. The extended Picatinny rail runs the full length of the top, giving you endless mounting options for optics, lights, or rangefinders. A Weaver 63B scope mount is drilled and tapped in, ready for installation. The side gate loading—a departure from traditional Henry design—makes feeding rounds faster and more intuitive, especially when you're wearing gloves or in a hurry. The large loop lever is machined for smooth, reliable cycling under pressure.

The stock is stained hardwood with a black ventilated rubber recoil pad, offering both looks and shooter comfort when you're managing that .45-70 kick. Transfer bar safety keeps the gun secure until you're ready to shoot. A peep sight on the Picatinny rail pairs with a front blade sight for iron-only capability, or you can mount your choice of glass and run it as a modern rifle. At 37.5 inches overall with a 14-inch length of pull, it fits a wide range of shooters.

This is a working rifle for working hunters—no frills, full capability, and built to last.

Frequently Asked Questions

What game is the .45-70 Government good for?

The .45-70 is a proven large game cartridge. This rifle is suited for deer, bear, hogs, moose, and elk at 100 yards and inside. Its heavy bullet and substantial stopping power make it a favorite for brush hunting and dangerous game work where a quick, decisive hit matters.

Can I mount a scope on this rifle?

Yes. The rifle is drilled and tapped with a Weaver 63B scope mount, and the extended full-length Picatinny rail on top accepts any Picatinny-compatible optic mount. You can run glass as your primary sight or back it up with the iron sights.

What is the side gate loading, and how does it work?

The side gate is a loading port on the side of the receiver that lets you feed .45-70 rounds directly into the magazine without cycling the lever. It speeds up feeding and is particularly handy when wearing gloves or in cold conditions.

Is this rifle suitable for left-handed shooters?

This is a right-hand lever action rifle. Specifications provided describe a standard right-eject design; if you're left-handed, you may want to verify handling before purchase.
