The Diamondback DB15 5.56x45mm AR rifle with 16" barrel is a straightforward, no-nonsense platform built for hunters, sport shooters, and riflemen who want a compact carbine that works out of the box. This black AR-15 delivers the ergonomic familiarity and modularity the platform is known for, backed by Diamondback's attention to quality fundamentals: a forged aluminum upper and lower, a properly inspected carrier, and a 1:8 twist barrel that stabilizes common 5.56 ammunition across the velocity range.

At 16 inches, the barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and maneuverability—useful whether you're running drills at the range, hunting medium game, or keeping a rifle handy for property work. The carbine-length gas system pairs well with that barrel length to cycle reliably across standard and modern 5.56 loads. You get a 12-inch M-LOK handguard for mounting optics, lights, or other accessories, along with a MOE carbine stock for a solid, adjustable cheekrest and a MOE grip that fits most hands comfortably.

This model ships California-compliant with a locked magazine and includes a 10-round PMAG Gen M3 magazine. The A2 flash hider (1/2x28 threads) helps tame muzzle flash in lower-light conditions and allows future suppressor mounting if your local laws permit. Whether you're new to AR-15s or adding another rifle to the safe, the DB15 offers solid execution at a price that doesn't ask you to overspend on features you won't use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Diamondback DB15 suitable for hunting?

Yes. The 5.56x45mm cartridge and 16-inch barrel are commonly used for varmint and small- to medium-game hunting, depending on your local regulations and game selection. The compact profile also suits hunters who prefer a shorter, lighter rifle in brushy terrain.

Can I mount an optic on this rifle?

Yes. The A3 flattop upper receiver includes Picatinny rail space for mounting any standard optic or red dot. The 12-inch M-LOK handguard also allows you to attach lights, laser devices, or other tactical accessories without gunsmithing.

What comes in the box?

The rifle includes one 10-round PMAG Gen M3 magazine and is California-compliant with a locked magazine system. Optics, sights, and other accessories are sold separately.

What is the 1:8 twist rate good for?

A 1:8 twist is a versatile, modern standard that stabilizes a broad range of 5.56 ammunition, from lighter varmint rounds to heavier match and duty loads. It's an excellent all-purpose choice if you plan to shoot different ammunition types without concern for bullet weight compatibility.

Can I suppress this rifle?

The A2 flash hider features 1/2x28 threads, which are the standard for 5.56 suppressors. Suppressor purchase and registration requirements vary by state—check your local laws before proceeding.
