The CZ-USA CZ 457 Premium is a refined .22LR bolt-action rifle that brings European gunmaking tradition to American shooting sports. Built on CZ's proven rimfire platform, the 457 Premium combines Old World craftsmanship—a Turkish walnut stock with decorative schnabel forend and mild Monte Carlo cheekpiece—with modern American ergonomics that feel immediately familiar to anyone who's shot a centerfire rifle. This is a .22 that respects heritage without sacrificing practicality, and it's built for shooters who refuse to compromise on a rimfire.
The 457 Premium is engineered around feedback from 4-H coaches and Hunter's Education instructors: it features a receiver-mounted push-to-fire safety that works like the centerfire rifles most shooters already know. Beyond that, CZ refined nearly every detail. The action is shorter and slab-sided than its predecessor, the 60-degree bolt lift (instead of 90) clears larger scope ocular bells with lower ring heights, and the adjustable trigger lets you dial out creep and over-travel. The cold hammer-forged, 24.8-inch barrel wears a tangent rear sight and fiber optic front, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2"-20 (a European standard) for suppressors or moderators. Two-piece interlocking bottom metal replaced stamped systems, and the detachable 5-round magazine is the same proven polymer design used across CZ's rimfire line.
The walnut stock is genuinely beautiful—not just functional—and the rifle's 6.39-pound weight makes it easy to carry through a full day of plinking, small-game hunting, or precision rimfire work. The 457 Premium inherits CZ's legendary swappable barrel system, so you can change calibers later if your shooting evolves. Whether you're introducing a young shooter to precision rifles, hunting rabbits and squirrels, or running suppressed .22 matches, the 457 Premium delivers accuracy and reliability in a package that looks as good as it shoots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CZ 457 Premium good for hunting small game?
Yes. The .22LR caliber, accurate cold hammer-forged barrel, and adjustable trigger make it well-suited for hunting rabbits, squirrels, and other small game. The fiber optic front sight and tangent rear sight support fieldcraft, and the rifle's 6.39-pound weight keeps fatigue down on longer outings.
Can I mount a scope on the CZ 457 Premium?
Yes. The 60-degree bolt lift clears larger objective bells, and the 11mm dovetail allows scope mounting with lower ring heights than many .22 bolt guns. You'll need rings and a scope compatible with the 11mm dovetail standard.
What comes with the rifle?
The rifle ships with the detachable polymer magazine and the factory sights (tangent rear and fiber optic front). A suppressor or brake are not included; the 1/2\"-20 muzzle threading allows you to add one separately if desired.
Can I swap barrels on the 457 Premium?
Yes. The 457 Premium uses CZ's swappable barrel system, so you can change to different calibers in the future if your shooting needs evolve.
What's the difference between the push-to-fire safety and other .22 safety designs?
The 457's receiver-mounted push-to-fire safety works like a centerfire rifle—simple and intuitive for shooters already familiar with standard firearms. This was a key improvement requested by 4-H coaches and Hunter's Education instructors to make transition training smoother and more consistent.
