Cold Hammer Forged

The CZ 457 American in .22 WMR is a purpose-built rimfire bolt-action rifle that bridges classic American rifle design with modern CZ precision engineering. Chambered in the zippy .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire, this rifle delivers flat-shooting performance that punches well beyond standard .22 LR, making it equally at home in the field or at the range. The 24.8-inch cold hammer-forged barrel is threaded for a scope—no iron sights here, just a clean receiver topped with an 11mm dovetail for mounting rings and optics of your choice. Whether you're after prairie dogs, foxes, or simply want a surgical .22 WMR for precision target work, the 457 American delivers the accuracy and handling that shooters expect from CZ.

The rifle's stock is hand-fitted Turkish walnut finished in a warm brown, with a high flat comb that supports repeatable cheek-weld and a traditional checkering pattern that looks as good as it feels. At 6.17 pounds, it's light enough to carry all day but substantial enough to manage the minimal recoil of the .22 WMR with authority. The detachable 5-round magazine keeps your shooting simple and your reload quick, whether you're working through a shooting sequence or loading fresh rounds between field stalks.

The adjustable trigger lets you dial in the break to suit your preference, while the two-position push-to-fire safety keeps your thumb in a natural shooting position. This is a no-nonsense rimfire built for shooters who know what they want: sub-MOA accuracy, classic looks, and a rifle that'll shoot as well in twenty years as it does today. Pair it with a good scope and you've got a rimfire that'll outperform its price tag.

Frequently Asked Questions

What scope base or rings do I need for the CZ 457 American?

The rifle is drilled and tapped with an 11mm dovetail on the receiver. You'll need scope rings sized for an 11mm dovetail base or an 11mm dovetail rail. This is a standard mounting interface, and options are widely available.

Is the .22 WMR a good choice for hunting?

The .22 WMR delivers significantly more velocity and energy than standard .22 LR, making it suitable for varmint and small game hunting at extended ranges. Its flatter trajectory and retained energy at distance make it a popular choice for fox, prairie dogs, and similar applications where you want performance beyond what .22 LR provides.

What's included with the rifle?

The CZ 457 American comes with one detachable 5-round magazine. You'll need to source a scope and appropriate rings separately.

Can I adjust the trigger on this rifle?

Yes. The adjustable trigger allows you to customize the break weight to suit your shooting style and preference.
