The Colt Combat Unit CCO Commander .45 ACP pistol is a purpose-built defensive sidearm that carries forward the legacy of one of America's most trusted combat platforms. Chambered in .45 ACP with a 4.25-inch National Match barrel, this single-action 1911-pattern pistol delivers the stopping power and precision that serious shooters have relied on for over a century. The CCO Commander balances controllability with firepower in a compact frame that works equally well as a duty gun, home-defense pistol, or range workhorse.

Built on a forged aluminum frame with a black anodized finish, the CCO Commander ships from Colt with professional-grade features that cut out the guesswork. Novak night sights front and rear keep you on target in low light. The extended ambidextrous beavertail grip safety accommodates both right- and left-handed shooters without fumbling. You get a checkered front strap and mainspring housing for a secure purchase even when your hands are wet or gloved, and the extended magwell speeds reloads under pressure. Gray G-10 checkered grips with scalloped edges provide both texture and aesthetic appeal. At 32 ounces, it's manageable enough for daily carry yet substantial enough to tame recoil.

This is a Series 80 platform, meaning it includes the internal firing-pin safety mechanism that gives you added peace of mind without compromising reliability. The 8+1 round capacity is standard for .45 ACP single-stack platforms. If you're looking for a .45 Commander that shows up ready to work—no mall-ninja upgrades, no guesswork—the CCO fits the bill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a .45 ACP Commander suitable for concealed carry or home defense?

Yes. The 4.25-inch barrel and 32-ounce weight make this a practical size for either role. Its compact profile and proven .45 ACP round earn it respect in both communities.

What sights come standard on the CCO Commander?

Novak night sights—a front sight and a low-mount rear sight—are included to give you low-light capability out of the box.

Can left-handed shooters operate this pistol comfortably?

Yes. The extended ambidextrous beavertail grip safety works for both right- and left-handed shooters, and the safety controls are also ambidextrous.

What is the Series 80 safety system?

Series 80 refers to Colt's internal firing-pin safety mechanism, which adds an extra layer of drop safety without altering the trigger or overall operation of the pistol.
