The Colt Cobra Special .38 Special revolver is a compact, reliable double-action wheelgun purpose-built for personal defense and everyday carry. With its 2-inch barrel, steel frame, and svelte 7.2-inch overall length, this is a shooter's revolver—no-nonsense, proven, and genuinely concealable without sacrificing the durability Colt is known for. The matte black finish and retro wood grip give it character while keeping maintenance straightforward. Whether you're looking for a nightstand gun, a pocket revolver for backup, or a lightweight option for deep carry, the Cobra Special delivers what matters: confidence and simplicity.

This is a double-action-only platform, meaning every trigger press both cocks and fires the hammer in one smooth motion—faster into the fight, no single-action temptation, and no exposed hammer to snag on draw. The six-round cylinder feeds standard .38 Special or .38 Special +P ammunition, giving you flexibility at the range or in the field without caliber conversions. Fixed iron sights—a brass bead front and frame trench rear—are fast to acquire and reliable. There's no electronics, no bells, and no batteries; just steel, spring, and trigger discipline.

The wood grip is machined to fit the hand naturally during recoil, and the compact package keeps weight low enough to carry all day without complaint. Colt's steel construction means this revolver will outlive most of us. If you want a proven, unfussy carry gun or a solid range trainer with genuine stopping power, the Cobra Special is worth serious consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I carry the Colt Cobra Special in an inside-the-waistband holster?

Yes. At 7.2 inches overall and with a 2-inch barrel, the Cobra Special is designed for compact carry. Its slim profile makes it a natural fit for IWB rigs, pocket holsters, and ankle carry—though you'll want to verify compatibility with your specific holster.

What ammunition does this revolver shoot?

The Cobra Special is chambered in .38 Special and will accept both standard .38 Special and .38 Special +P pressures. You have the flexibility to load down for practice or up for duty/defense without changing guns.

Is the double-action-only trigger good for self-defense?

Double-action-only removes the single-action option, which simplifies the gun and accelerates your shot process when speed counts. The entire trigger stroke both cocks and fires the hammer in one motion—there's no mode-switching or safety manipulation to think about under stress.

What are the fixed sights like on this revolver?

The Cobra Special is equipped with a brass bead front sight and a frame trench rear sight, both fixed. These iron sights are quick to acquire at defensive distances and require no batteries or adjustment once zeroed. They're built for real-world use, not refinement.
