The Colt CCU Government 9mm pistol is a full-size, single-action 1911 built for shooters who want genuine Colt quality in a modern duty or competition platform. This Model O1082CCU combines the proven 1911 ergonomics and reliability that have served military and law enforcement for over a century with practical upgrades: Novak night sights, an ambidextrous extended beavertail grip safety, and a TALO Series 80 extended magwell designed to speed reloads. The black PVD finish resists corrosion while maintaining a professional appearance suitable for the range, duty carry, or tactical training.
Built on a black stainless steel frame, the CCU Government features a 5-inch barrel and 8.5-inch overall length—the classic Government profile that balances shootability with everyday carry potential. The G10 checkered gray scallop grips provide positive indexing and traction in various conditions, while the checkered front strap and mainspring housing ensure your grip stays firm during extended shooting sessions. At 40 ounces loaded, it carries with substance but not excess weight, and the single-stack 9mm format (9+1 capacity) keeps the gun slim enough to conceal when needed.
This is a purposeful gun for serious shooters: those stepping into 1911s, upgrading to a compact duty pistol, or looking for a reliable 9mm platform proven in competitive shooting. Colt's manufacturing standards and the thoughtful feature set—night sights, ambidextrous safety, modern magwell—mean you're investing in a tool that will run.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sights come on the Colt CCU Government 9mm?
This model is equipped with Novak night sights—a Novak night sight up front and a Novak low-mount night sight in the rear. Night sights are designed for target acquisition in low-light conditions, making them practical for defensive use and range work in variable lighting.
Is the grip safety ambidextrous, and can left-handed shooters use it easily?
Yes. The CCU Government features an extended ambidextrous beavertail grip safety, so both right- and left-handed shooters can disengage it intuitively without shifting their grip.
What does the extended magwell do?
The TALO Series 80 extended magwell creates a larger funnel at the magazine well, making it easier and faster to seat magazines during reloads—a feature valued in competition shooting, training, and high-volume range sessions.
What comes in the box with the Colt CCU Government 9mm?
The pistol ships in a plastic case with one 9+1 magazine.
