The Cimarron Frontier .45 Long Colt single action revolver is a faithful recreation of the classic sidearm that won the West. Built on a color case hardened pre-war frame and fitted with a 5½-inch barrel, this Model PP411 delivers the look, feel, and reliability of a genuine Frontier-era six-shooter. Whether you're a Cowboy Action shooter, a collector of traditional single actions, or someone who appreciates historical firearms, the Frontier handles .45 Long Colt ammunition with the kind of no-nonsense dependability that made the platform legendary.

The blued finish protects the steel while maintaining that authentic, time-tested aesthetic. The one-piece walnut grip is comfortable in the hand and adds to the gun's classic character without fussy ergonomic gimmicks. Cimarron's attention to detail in the frame-hardening and overall construction means you're holding a revolver that respects the original design—not a modern interpretation that tries to reinvent the wheel.

This is a working firearm, not a safe queen. The Frontier suits hunters and sport shooters who run .45 LC in rugged conditions, as well as history-minded folks who want an authentic platform for Cowboy Action matches or just plain shooting fun. Single action operation demands deliberate handling, which keeps you focused and connected to the gun in a way modern double actions don't.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between color case hardened and blued finishes?

Color case hardening creates a decorative, hardened surface layer on steel—typically showing swirls of blue, brown, and gold—and was the standard on pre-war revolver frames. Blued finish is a chemical treatment that protects the steel across the barrel, cylinder, and other components. On the Frontier, the combination gives you both historical authenticity and reliable corrosion protection.

Is the Cimarron Frontier good for Cowboy Action shooting?

Yes. The Frontier's single action design, traditional handling, and .45 Long Colt chambering make it well-suited for Cowboy Action Sport (SASS) competition and matches where authentic single action revolvers are the norm.

What ammunition does the .45 Long Colt fire?

.45 Long Colt (also called .45 Colt or .45 LC) is a large-diameter pistol cartridge available in factory loads and as a popular handloading round. It's versatile—loaded from mild to powerful—and widely available from ammunition manufacturers.

Is this revolver suitable for hunting?

The .45 Long Colt is capable of taking medium-sized game at reasonable ranges when loaded appropriately. The 5½-inch barrel offers good sight radius and velocity for field work, and the single action mechanism supports deliberate, accurate shooting in hunting scenarios.
