The Charter Arms Undercover .38 Special Stainless Steel Revolver is a time-tested concealed carry revolver built for shooters who want simplicity, reliability, and enough stopping power without the bulk. At just 16 ounces with a 2-inch barrel, this five-shot .38 Special revolver strikes the practical balance that's made Charter's Undercover line a staple in the concealed carry world for decades. Whether you're looking for a pocket revolver for personal defense or a no-nonsense backup gun, the Undercover delivers the compact footprint and familiar handling that experienced shooters depend on.

The stainless steel construction resists corrosion and requires minimal maintenance—important for a gun that lives in a holster, pocket, or bag. Its dual-action/single-action trigger gives you flexibility in how you shoot it, and the compact grip is designed for a secure hold without printing under light clothing. This is a revolver that doesn't try to be everything; it's engineered to be what a concealed carry gun should be: small enough to actually carry, reliable enough to trust your life to, and straightforward enough that there's nothing to fuss with when it matters.

The .38 Special cartridge remains a proven choice for personal defense, and the +P rated construction means you have options for ammunition selection. If you've carried a revolver before, the Undercover will feel immediately familiar. If this is your first—and plenty of defensive shooters still reach for a five-shot revolver—you'll appreciate how low the learning curve is compared to semi-automatics. No safeties to remember, no magazines to load, no slide to chamber a round.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Charter Arms Undercover good for concealed carry?

Yes. At 16 ounces and 2 inches, it's designed specifically for concealed carry. The compact profile and light weight make it practical for pocket, ankle, or waistband carry without printing or becoming a burden during long days.

What ammunition does it shoot?

The Undercover fires .38 Special, and it's rated for +P loads, giving you access to a wider range of defensive ammunition options.

Is stainless steel the right choice for a carry gun?

Stainless steel resists rust and corrosion—valuable traits in a gun that may be exposed to moisture from sweat, rain, or other elements. It requires less maintenance than blued steel and still holds up to regular use.

How does single/double action work?

In double-action mode (standard for concealed carry), you pull the trigger and the revolver cocks and fires in one smooth motion. Single-action means you manually cock the hammer first, then break the trigger—giving you a shorter, crisper trigger press if you choose it.
