The Charter Arms Boxer is a lightweight .38 Special revolver built for shooters who need reliable backup power or a no-fuss carry option. With its 2.2" barrel, aluminum frame, and feather-light 16 oz weight, the Boxer rounds out Charter's lineup of practical, go-anywhere defensive revolvers. The fiber optic front sight gives you a bright aiming reference in low light—exactly what you want when seconds count. This is a six-shot wheelgun that doesn't apologize for being simple; it does one job and does it well.

The all-rubber grip absorbs recoil and gives you solid purchase whether you're shooting in shirtsleeves or gloved. At this size and weight, the Boxer isn't a target gun; it's built for the moment you actually need it. The anodized finish shrugs off the elements, and the standard hammer gives you both single-action precision and double-action speed. Capacity and cartridge choice make it a natural fit for shooters who trust .38 Special stopping power without the snappier recoil of larger magnums.

If you carry for work, keep a backup in a truck, or want a revolver that rides light in a pocket holster, the Boxer delivers on that promise. No rails, no tacticool complexity—just a purpose-built wheelgun that's been proven in the field by law enforcement and armed citizens for decades.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Charter Arms Boxer a good backup or carry gun?

Yes. At 16 oz with a compact 2.2" barrel, it's designed for shooters who prioritize minimal weight and profile. The fiber optic sight helps you shoot fast in poor light, and .38 Special is a proven defensive cartridge. It's a natural fit for backup, pocket carry, or truck duty.

What's the difference between the fiber optic sight and a standard sight?

The fiber optic front sight is brighter and faster to acquire, especially in low light or at dusk. It gathers ambient light and presents a vivid sight picture—ideal for defensive shooting where you need to aim quickly.

Can I shoot .38 Special +P ammo in the Boxer?

The product record confirms .38 Special caliber and does not include information about +P rated chambers. Check the manual or contact Charter Arms directly to confirm pressure rating.

How much does the Boxer weigh, and will it be comfortable to carry all day?

The Boxer weighs 16 oz, making it one of the lightest defensive revolvers on the market. The full rubber grip and compact profile make it comfortable for all-day carry, whether in a holster or pocket.
