The Charter Arms Southpaw .38 Special +P revolver is a left-handed defensive compact built for shooters who've grown tired of compromises at the gun counter. Unlike ambidextrous designs that feel like afterthoughts, the Southpaw is completely reverse-configured: the cylinder release and loading gate sit on the right side of the frame, letting left-handed shooters reload with their dominant hand without awkward contortions. It's a revolver purpose-built for how you actually shoot.

At just 12 ounces, this five-shot .38 Special +P packs genuine stopping power into a frame you'll actually carry. The barrel is a compact 2 inches—perfect for appendix, waistband, or pocket carry without printing or snagging. Charter Arms machined the frame from aircraft-grade 7075 aluminum, a material that delivers rugged reliability without the heft of steel. The 2-tone pink and matte finish isn't just eye-catching; it's a genuine functional choice that reduces glare and stands out in your safe or range bag. The traditional spurred hammer and fixed sights keep things simple and reliable—no electronics, no complications.

The Southpaw carries Charter's proven three-point cylinder lock, the same mechanism that locks up tight on their duty-grade revolvers. It fires .38 Special +P ammunition, giving you real defensive capability in a package small enough to forget you're carrying. This is the revolver for the left-handed shooter who's been waiting for a manufacturer that respects their needs instead of selling them a right-hand gun and calling it ambidextrous.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this revolver really set up for left-handed shooters?

Completely. The cylinder release button and loading gate are positioned on the right side of the frame, allowing left-handed shooters to operate the revolver and reload using their dominant hand. It's not ambidextrous—it's purpose-built for lefties.

What ammunition does the Southpaw fire?

The Southpaw is chambered in .38 Special +P, which delivers more velocity and energy than standard .38 Special loads while remaining safe in this revolver's aluminum frame.

How heavy is this revolver, and will it be easy to carry daily?

At 12 ounces and with a 2-inch barrel, the Southpaw is lightweight and compact enough for appendix, waistband, or even pocket carry depending on your setup and holster choice. The aluminum construction keeps it manageable for all-day carry.

Does the Southpaw come with a guarantee on the cylinder lock?

The revolver features a three-point cylinder lock mechanism for reliability. Please refer to Charter Arms' warranty documentation for specific coverage details.
