The Browning X-Bolt 2 Hells Canyon McMillan LR in 7mm Remington Magnum is a long-range big game rifle engineered for hunters who demand accuracy without compromise. Built on the improved X-Bolt 2 platform, this rifle combines a free-floating, fluted heavy sporter barrel with modern ergonomics and proven reliability. The 26-inch barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and handling, while the Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish resists the elements in harsh hunting country. This is a rifle for serious distance work on elk, moose, and other large game where precision matters.

The stock deserves its reputation: McMillan's composite Game Scout design wears OVIX camouflage and beds the action and recoil lug for inherent stability. The new Plus Magazine System carries more cartridges than standard setups, and the redesigned spiral-fluted bolt cycles smoothly with a 60-degree throw that clears most modern optics. Recoil management comes from a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake, and the Pachmayr Decelerator pad absorbs what the brake doesn't mitigate. An aluminum 20 MOA Picatinny rail sits on an X-Lock scope mounting system—four screws per base lock optics down hard.

The trigger is Browning's new patent-pending adjustable DLX design, set to hunting weights from the factory. The top-tang safety is easy to reach, and a bolt unlock button provides an extra measure of control during chamber checking and unloading. The receiver includes additional bolt guidance surfaces for smoother feeding and extraction. All told, this is a rifle that looks the part, performs at distance, and won't quit when conditions turn ugly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the X-Bolt 2 different from the original X-Bolt?

The X-Bolt 2 features a redesigned receiver with additional bolt guidance surfaces for smoother operation, a new spiral-fluted bolt with an extended handle and ergonomic knob shape, and a patent-pending adjustable DLX trigger set to hunting weights. The Plus Magazine System also offers greater cartridge capacity than standard setups.

Is this rifle suitable for long-range hunting?

Yes. The 26-inch free-floating fluted barrel, 7mm Remington Magnum caliber, 20 MOA Picatinny rail, and Recoil Hawg muzzle brake are all configured for distance shooting. The McMillan stock bedding and X-Bolt 2 action provide the mechanical foundation for consistent, accurate performance at extended ranges.

What optics can I mount on this rifle?

The rifle comes with an aluminum 20 MOA Picatinny rail and X-Lock scope mounting system. The 60-degree bolt throw clears most modern optics, so you have flexibility in scope choice. Use standard Picatinny-compatible rings and mounts.

What's included, and what will I need to add?

The rifle ships with the stock, barrel, action, Recoil Hawg muzzle brake, Pachmayr recoil pad, and optics rail. You'll need to add a scope, scope rings, and ammunition. The rifle does not ship with a magazine loaded.
