The Browning Buck Mark Practical URX 22 LR pistol is a single-action rimfire built for shooters who want a reliable, affordable platform for plinking, casual target work, or introducing new shooters to handgun fundamentals. Chambered in .22 LR with a 10-round magazine (California compliant), this is a purpose-built 22 LR target pistol that delivers the ergonomics and accuracy Browning's Buck Mark line is known for, without the complexity or cost of centerfire centerfire options. Whether you're zeroing in at the range, training fundamentals, or just enjoying cheap, low-recoil shooting, the Practical URX offers genuine utility in a compact, shootable package.

The 5.5-inch barrel and 9.5-inch overall length strike a balance between sight radius and handling. At 34 ounces, the all-steel construction provides solid weight that helps manage the mild recoil of .22 LR and keeps the gun stable during the shot. The matte blue finish resists glare and gives the gun a no-nonsense working appearance. Grip ergonomics matter in a .22 pistol—the textured Ultragrip RX panels are designed to give you a secure, confident hold during extended range sessions without hot spots or fatigue.

Sights are where the Practical URX gets practical: the front TruGlo fiber-optic sight gathers ambient light for fast target acquisition, while the Pro-Target rear sight allows precise windage and elevation adjustments. That combination is genuinely useful for a 22 LR pistol, giving you the tools to shoot accurately without breaking the bank on premium glass or red dots. The single-action trigger is straightforward and reliable—a no-fuss design that appeals to shooters who just want to shoot.

This is California-compliant out of the box, making it a legal, practical choice for shooters in restricted states. If you're looking for an honest 22 LR pistol that does what it says and doesn't pretend to be something it isn't, the Buck Mark Practical URX delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Browning Buck Mark Practical URX legal in California?

Yes. This model comes California-compliant from the factory with a 10-round magazine capacity, making it a legal purchase in CA without additional modification.

What's the difference between this and other Buck Mark 22 LR pistols?

The Practical URX is optimized for target shooting and plinking. The combination of the 5.5-inch barrel, fiber-optic and Pro-Target sights, and Ultragrip RX grips make it a purpose-built .22 LR option focused on accuracy and user control rather than compact carry.

Is this a good pistol for beginners or training?

Yes. The .22 LR rimfire delivers minimal recoil and cost per shot, the all-steel weight helps manage felt impulse, and the single-action design is straightforward. These qualities make it ideal for teaching fundamentals and building confidence without flinch or fatigue.

What ammunition does it use?

This pistol is chambered in .22 LR (Long Rifle)—the most economical and widely available rimfire ammunition, and excellent for range practice, casual shooting, and target work.
