The Brownells BRN-4 14.5" Medium Stripped Barrel is a purpose-built upper receiver component for HK 416–compatible AR platforms. Machined by Faxon and finished in hard black nitride, this barrel strips down to bare steel—no gas tube, bolt carrier, or handguard—so you can assemble an upper around your own vision. The medium contour strikes a practical balance: it sheds weight compared to the heavy profile found on early HK 416s while maintaining enough rigidity to perform reliably at distance or on the range.
Brownells engineered the BRN-4 line to work seamlessly with early-generation HK 416 upper receivers and the full BRN-4 ecosystem of compatible parts. The 1-7 twist rate stabilizes a wide range of 5.56×45 NATO and .223 Remington loads, and the standard ½"-28 muzzle threads let you run any common suppressors or brakes you already own. The black nitride finish hardens both the bore and exterior, resisting fouling and corrosion without requiring exotic cleaning routines—just standard field maintenance.
Installation is straightforward: the extended barrel extension seats solidly in the BRN-4 upper, and torque spec is 50–80 ft/lbs with the proper barrel nut. All BRN-4 14.5" barrels accept the same piston rod assembly, so you pair this barrel with the matching BRN-4 gas block (kit-specific) and you're ready to build.
