The Bond Arms Cyclops .45-70 Gov derringer handgun is a single-shot powerhouse built for hunters and shooters who want serious stopping power in a compact, portable package. This isn't a typical derringer—Bond Arms engineered the Cyclops as an over-under double-barrel platform, and this .45-70 Government version delivers rifle-class capability in a handheld form factor. At 4.25 inches, the stainless steel barrel is bored as a single-shot, adding heft and managing recoil to make shooting this beast more comfortable than you'd expect from a big-bore derringer.

The Cyclops fills a niche for backup hunting arms, wilderness survival kits, and shooters who appreciate the raw simplicity and terminal performance of the .45-70 Government cartridge. The extended B6 resin grip was designed from the ground up to fill your hand properly, reducing felt recoil and improving control during firing. Fixed sights keep the sight picture clear and reliable, with no batteries or moving parts to worry about in the field. At 28 ounces and 6.75 inches overall length, it's compact enough to carry in a pack, saddlebag, or truck box while remaining substantial enough to shoot confidently from a supported position.

This is a single-action firearm with a 7-pound trigger pull, a fixed trigger guard, and a no-nonsense design. The Cyclops arrives silver-finished and ready to shoot. If you've wanted a high-power derringer in a truly effective hunting cartridge, Bond Arms has answered the call with this .45-70 option, with plans for other big-bore configurations down the road.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Bond Arms Cyclops derringer used for?

The Cyclops is designed for hunters and shooters seeking a powerful, compact backup arm or survival firearm. The .45-70 Government chambering delivers hunting-grade power despite the short barrel, making it suitable for close-range hunting situations, wilderness carry, or truck-box defense.

How much recoil does the Cyclops .45-70 generate?

The .45-70 Government is a heavy-hitting cartridge, so recoil is substantial. Bond Arms addressed this by designing the extended B6 grip to fill your hand properly and distributing the weight—the 28-ounce frame and bored barrel help manage the kick compared to lighter derringer designs.

What's included with the Cyclops, and what do I need to shoot it?

The product ships as a complete, ready-to-fire handgun. You'll need .45-70 Government ammunition, hearing protection, and eye protection. Always verify local and state laws before purchase and transport.

Is the Cyclops derringer reliable in the field?

The Cyclops uses a single-action, fixed-sights design with no electronic components or moving parts beyond the hammer and trigger. This mechanical simplicity—combined with the fixed trigger guard and solid B6 grip—is built for reliable, field-tested function.
