The Black Rain Ordnance Fusion 5.56 16" Red Battleworn tactical rifle is a customizable direct impingement platform built for shooters who want a reliable carbine without a bloated price tag. Black Rain's approach lets you start with a proven foundation—this Spec+ Series model ships ready to shoot, with a 16-inch 4150 chromoly barrel, nitride-coated BCG, and forged aluminum receivers that handle the recoil impulse of 5.56 NATO. Whether you're zeroing at the range, setting up a truck gun, or building a home-defense rifle, the Fusion gives you a no-nonsense platform that doesn't demand an arsenal budget.

The 34-inch overall length keeps the rifle handy in tight spaces without sacrificing sight radius or ballistic performance. A direct impingement gas system with low-profile, non-adjustable carbine-length gas block keeps the design simple and reliable—fewer variables mean fewer things to diagnose if something goes wrong. The A2 flash hider helps manage muzzle signature, and the 12-inch M-LOK slim handguard gives you mounting flexibility for lights, lasers, or forward grips if you decide to add them later.

Furniture includes MFT Minimalist buttstock and Ergo Grip, giving you a solid ergonomic baseline that most shooters find immediately comfortable. The G.I.-style trigger is a known quantity—straightforward and reliable, though plenty of shooters upgrade down the road if they want a lighter break. At 7 lbs 3 oz, the Fusion handles like a carbine should: quick to move, easy to mount on a sling, and light enough for a long day in the field or on the clock at the range. The battleworn red Cerakote finish is as much about personality as it is durability—your rifle looks like it's actually been used, and Cerakote will keep it that way.

Black Rain's Spec+ Series philosophy is built on choice: if this configuration doesn't match your vision, you have over 100 different build combinations and 21 finish options to explore. But if you want a solid 5.56 carbine that's ready to shoot out of the box, the Fusion delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with this rifle?

The Black Rain Ordnance Fusion ships as a complete rifle—upper receiver, lower receiver, bolt carrier group, barrel, gas block, handguard, furniture, and muzzle device are all installed and ready. You'll need ammunition and a magazine (not included) to get to the range.

Is this rifle suitable for hunting?

The Fusion's 16-inch barrel and 5.56 NATO chambering make it well-suited for varmint hunting or medium-range shooting where 5.56 is appropriate. Ballistically and ergonomically, it handles like a modern carbine—sling-friendly, quick to maneuver, and accurate enough for field use. Check your local hunting regulations for caliber and platform restrictions.

Can I add accessories like a light or scope?

Yes. The 12-inch M-LOK handguard accepts M-LOK-compatible mounts for lights, lasers, and other accessories. The upper receiver can be fitted with aftermarket optics using standard Picatinny rail systems. A scope mount or red dot isn't included, but the platform is designed for them.

What's the difference between this Spec+ configuration and others?

Black Rain offers over 100 build combinations and 21 finish options in their Spec+ Series. This particular model is the Fusion in 5.56 with a red battleworn finish, a 16-inch barrel, and a specific furniture set. If you want a different barrel length, finish, gas system configuration, or furniture mix, you can explore other Spec+ builds.
