The Black Rain Ordnance .223 Remington AR rifle with 16" barrel pairs rugged American manufacturing with a patriotic Red, White & Blue finish—a modern sporting rifle built to handle range days, training, and practical shooting. This direct impingement AR runs on proven .223/5.56 NATO ammunition and comes configured with quality mid-tier components that balance reliability and value. Whether you're stepping into the AR platform or adding to an existing collection, this rifle delivers the accuracy and ergonomics hunters, shooters, and riflemen depend on.

Black Rain Ordnance (BRO) focuses on domestic production and no-nonsense design. This model uses a forged aluminum Spec15 receiver set paired with a 4150V chromoly barrel—a combination that's been battle-tested across military and civilian use. The salt bath nitride-coated bolt carrier group resists corrosion and extends service life, while the direct impingement gas system with low-profile non-adjustable gas block keeps the rifle simple and reliable. A mil-spec G.I. trigger provides familiar, predictable control.

The ergonomics lean toward practical: Magpul MOE grip and stock fit a wide range of hand sizes and shooting positions, and the 15" MLOK slim handguard gives you plenty of real estate for accessories without excessive weight. The A2 flash hider tames muzzle flash in low-light conditions. At 7 lbs 8 oz with a 34" overall length, this rifle handles intuitively indoors and in tight spaces while staying manageable for longer shooting sessions. The Red, White & Blue edition adds distinctive visual character without compromising function.

If you want a .223 AR that's American-made, straightforward to maintain, and ready to work out of the box, this Black Rain Ordnance rifle covers the mission without unnecessary complexity or premium pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this rifle compatible with standard AR-15 accessories and ammo?

Yes. The Spec15 receiver and direct impingement platform are compatible with standard AR-15 components and magazines. It fires .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition, which are widely available.

What is the barrel made of and why does it matter?

The barrel is 4150V chromoly steel, a proven military-grade material that offers excellent accuracy, durability, and service life. Chromoly resists wear and maintains tight tolerances through heavy use.

Does the gas block adjustment affect performance?

This rifle features a low-profile, non-adjustable gas block, meaning it's tuned to a fixed position. For most shooters and standard ammunition, this simplifies operation and maintenance while ensuring reliable cycling.

What's the trigger like, and can it be upgraded?

It comes with a mil-spec G.I. trigger—the baseline military-style trigger found on countless service rifles. It's reliable and familiar to most shooters, and aftermarket triggers are widely available if you want a lighter break or other characteristics down the road.
