The ATI GSG-16 .22LR AR-15 carbine is a semi-automatic tactical rifle built for shooters who want AR ergonomics, modularity, and fun without the recoil or the cost of centerfire rounds. If you're training new shooters, running affordable practice at the range, or just want a reliable .22LR that doesn't feel like a toy, the GSG-16 delivers honest plinking performance in a rifle that looks and handles like the real deal.

The GSG-16 builds on proven GSG operating system fundamentals and wraps them in a modern platform. Its collapsible stock isn't just for length-of-pull adjustment—it doubles as a magazine storage compartment, a practical touch for shooters who want to carry spare mags on the rifle itself. The redesigned handguard combines MLOK slots with Picatinny rail mounting, giving you standard options for mounting lights, lasers, or other accessories. An ambidextrous charging handle means you can work the action from either side of the rifle, and the simplified front and rear iron sights are set up for quick target acquisition right out of the box.

Weighing in at 5.84 pounds unloaded with a 16.25-inch barrel, the GSG-16 is light enough for younger or smaller-frame shooters to handle comfortably, yet substantial enough to run like a full-size rifle. The 5.5-pound trigger breaks predictably, and the single included 10-round magazine works with GSG-5 and GSG-522 stick and rotary magazines if you want to expand capacity. A faux suppressor gives it that finished tactical look.

Fire high-velocity .22LR (1260 fps recommended) for reliable function and consistent performance. The polymer receiver keeps cost and weight down without compromising durability. Whether you're introducing new hunters to rifle handling, building marksmanship fundamentals, or stocking an affordable practice rifle, the GSG-16 is a no-nonsense choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the GSG-16 AR-15 compatible? Can I use standard AR parts?

The GSG-16 is not a true AR-15 platform—it's a .22LR semi-automatic rifle that follows AR ergonomics and styling. While it shares some visual similarities and basic controls with AR-15s, it uses its own dedicated parts and magazine system. You cannot swap receivers, barrels, or magazines between the GSG-16 and centerfire AR-15s. The handguard features MLOK and Picatinny rails for standard optics and accessory mounting, but internal parts are GSG-specific.

What ammunition does the GSG-16 shoot, and what should I use?

The GSG-16 fires .22LR (22 Long Rifle) ammunition only. ATI recommends high-velocity .22LR loads at 1260 fps or higher for reliable cycling and best performance. Standard or subsonic .22LR rounds may not cycle the action consistently, so stick with high-velocity ammunition.

What magazines work with the GSG-16, and how many are included?

One 10-round magazine comes with the rifle. The GSG-16 is compatible with GSG-5 and GSG-522 stick and rotary magazines, so if you own other GSG rifles, you can share mags across your collection. The collapsible stock includes a storage compartment that can hold extra magazines for fast reloads.

How do I collapse or extend the stock?

The GSG-16 features a collapsible stock that adjusts for length of pull and reduces overall length from 34.25 inches (fully extended) to 28.5 inches (fully collapsed). The stock also serves as a magazine storage compartment for spare rounds. Specific adjustment instructions come with your rifle; consult the manual for proper operation.
