The TriStar American Classic .38 Super Gov 1911 pistol brings traditional single-action 1911 performance in a classic 5-inch barrel platform. Built on a steel frame and slide, this is a straightforward, reliable choice for shooters who appreciate proven 1911 ergonomics and don't need modern bells and whistles. The fixed mil-spec sights keep things simple and combat-ready, while the custom hardwood grips add a touch of character. If you shoot .38 Super and want a no-frills 1911 that handles the round well, this is a solid option at the range or in the field.

What you get is honest bluecollar engineering: a steel-on-steel build that's been proven over generations. The single-action trigger and manual safety are familiar to anyone trained on military or competition 1911s. The 9-round magazine capacity for .38 Super gives you reasonable firepower without the bulk of a double-stack. The pistol ships with one magazine, a hard case for storage and transport, a cable lock for safe handling, and the owner's manual—everything you need to get started.

This is the kind of 1911 that appeals to purists: no tactical rails, no night sights, no polymer parts. Just steel, reliable single-action mechanics, and the proven .38 Super cartridge. It's a good fit if you're already practiced with 1911s, or if you want a platform that forces you to focus on fundamentals. The 8.5-inch overall length and 2.47 lb weight make it manageable for extended shooting sessions without feeling floppy or hard to control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes in the box with this 1911?

You receive the pistol, one .38 Super magazine, a hard plastic case, a cable lock, and the owner's manual. The case provides solid protection for storage and transport.

Is this 1911 suitable for someone new to single-action pistols?

If you're new to 1911s, this gun will teach you the fundamentals: you'll rely on the fixed sights and manual safety, and you'll develop good trigger control with a single-action mechanism. Experienced 1911 shooters will feel right at home. Training or instruction is recommended if you're unfamiliar with the platform.

What's the difference between this .38 Super model and other 1911 variants?

This pistol is chambered in .38 Super, which is a higher-pressure bottleneck cartridge that pushes a lighter bullet faster than standard .45 ACP. It also holds 9 rounds per magazine versus 8 rounds in a comparable .45 ACP 1911. The steel construction, 5-inch barrel, and mil-spec sights are traditional 1911 features found across many variants.

How much does this pistol weigh?

The American Classic .38 Super Gov weighs 2.47 pounds, a typical weight for a full-size steel-framed 1911 with a 5-inch barrel.
