The Adaptive Tactical EX Performance Adjustable Stock & Forend for Mossberg 500/590/Maverick 88 12-gauge shotguns is a purpose-built upgrade for shooters who want ergonomic control and modularity without sacrificing durability. Whether you're running tactical drills, hunting, or home defense, this two-piece system replaces the factory setup with adjustable length-of-pull and integrated rail real estate—all machined from high-impact polymer that won't rust or add unnecessary weight.

The adjustable stock gives you a rapid-adjust lever to dial in your preferred length of pull between 10.5" and 15" (measured to the recoil pad), so whether you're in a light jacket or heavy gear, you can find the right fit fast. Integrated sling attachment points keep your setup simple, and the molded vented recoil pad does the work when your shotgun pushes back. The forend pairs a full 2-inch Picatinny rail hidden under a removable nose cap—peel it back and you've got real estate for lights, lasers, or other tactical accessories. Both pieces are made right here in the USA and built to take punishment.

A few critical installation notes: Mossberg Maverick 88 and 500 models made after March 2020 will need a separate metal action slide tube assembly and forend retention nut from Mossberg to use the EX Forend. If you're running a Shockwave platform, Adaptive Tactical does not recommend pairing the EX Forend with it due to potential hand positioning hazards near the muzzle. The stock and forend are available in black or orange (the latter favored for law enforcement less-lethal applications and easy field identification).

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my Mossberg Maverick 88?

Yes, but with a caveat: if your Maverick 88 was manufactured after March 2020, you'll need to purchase a separate 7 3/4" or 6 3/4" metal action slide tube assembly and forend retention nut from Mossberg (available through dealers or online retailers) to complete the EX Forend installation. Earlier models don't require this additional part.

Can I use the EX Forend on a Mossberg Shockwave?

Adaptive Tactical does not recommend using the EX Forend with the Shockwave platform. The forend geometry in combination with the Shockwave's extreme use conditions could position your hand dangerously close to the muzzle, creating a serious safety risk. Use the factory forend with the safety strap on Shockwave guns.

What's included with this kit?

You receive the adjustable stock and the forend assembly. The stock includes the rapid-adjust lever, integrated sling attachment points, and recoil pad. The forend comes with the 2-inch Picatinny rail concealed under the nose cap.

How much does length of pull adjust?

The stock adjusts from a minimum of 10.5" to a maximum of 15" (both measured to the recoil pad). The rapid-adjust lever makes it easy to change without removing the shotgun from service.
